The Co-operative Bank stuffed up on my standing orders on more than one occasion and the staff blamed me rather than their own IT systems and staff (who incidentally were actually at fault). Money taken out of my account without my authorisation and bank staff refusing to put the money back. This has resulted in me moving to a new bank - hurray for the switch system which is going to make my life easier. Wish I'd never had the misfortune of dealing with this shambolic bank. I'd advise avoiding this bank at all costs - they make mistakes and blame their customers!

Customer service: Great if you phone them needing help. They promptly answer the phone and try hardest to resolve issues. Super friendly.

Applied for a business account as a benefit of FSB membership. Began using online service this week. Possibly the least user-friendly banking experience I've had: menu is counter-intuitive, found the statement option by accident after many frustrating minutes, appear to have been charged £10 to receive a payment by CHAPS but can't find the details anywhere -- only know cuz the amount shown is £10 less than the amount verified by the client's bank -- and the fee does not equate to anything listed in the tariff booklet. After waiting an hour (not 30 min as promised) on the phone earlier in the week during normal working hours, I tried ringing after 5PM for an explanation and was told the wait time would be even longer. Will keep the account cuz it was an ordeal to set up but will continue to use my original bank.

Numerous time now of card rendered unusable after trying to use online and can take over 24 hours to sort out. To get it sorted out can take up to one and a half hours on the phone to start the procedure.... Read more

I have had a Co op card for many years for ethical reasons but now it is getting to the stage now it is unusable online.

It is like going back in time.whilst I was aware there is a banking app on its way .when I don’t no and nobody else seems to no.it is all very frustrating with all the user name and token machine etc.and when u get on ur account it doesn’t seem to get any better.I don’t seem to be able to get on with the way it is set out and find it easy to make a mistake and it logs u out again.then u have to go through the whole procedure again to get back on .maybe moving from a good bank with a good app and ease of use was a mistake..I can only hope the app comes soon and it makes getting on ur account easier and easier to use once u are on it or I can see another bank switch happening .

I was forced to open a business account to access a bbl even though i already had a current account. After i had received the loan they issued me account details to another account to repay the loan to so i tried to close the business account which charges £10 a month service charge because i already have a business account with a modern bank. Now the co op say i cant close my account untill i have repaid the bbl back in full. To top it all I can not log in to the business account even though i use the correct login details and know how to use the antiquated token that they make you use. This is not a professional bank it is a cruel joke.

I've used probably around 10 online banks for myself, my family and for companies, including the likes of NatWest, HSBC, Barclays, Unity Trust, BBVA, Santander and so on. By some LONG margin, the co-op is the worst of the lot.
I was OK with previous (also worst ranking) online because they used to be an ethical bank, and so I put up with its foibles. But they rolled out a new one which is significantly less usable than the last one (on the verge of unusable), which when combined with their severely less ethical credentials means there really is no reason to be with this bank any more. Avoid.

AVOID! RUBBISH RUBBISH RUBBISH!! Each and every time I try to use the monstrously BAD Co-op Business banking website I want to tear my hair out! AND this is the recently redesigned version - the old one was WAY better! Even the simplest task of getting transactions thru a specific date range is IMPOSSIBLE! It never works. The calendars say you cannot select a date BEFORE the date you've selected even tho it's actually after. Totally rubbish unintuitive interface. Stuff doesn't display properly either, boxes overlap or half hidden under others. Tried ALL browsers - still BAD! Times you out after 5 mins of no activity. Have made several complaints via Co-op feedback with no response at all. AVOID! RUBBISH RUBBISH RUBBISH!!

The old online banking system wasn't great, but it worked. The new system is atrocious. It is impossible to use and missing so many of the features that other banks have. I lost the will to live trying to cancel a direct debit. It was less painful having root canal work. Whoever signed off on this monstrosity should be sacked. Myself and my wife have now moved our business banking elsewhere and could not be happier.

I never write reviews, certainly not ranting negative ones but I am so cross and disappointed in the COOP I need to vent. I was a happy loyal customer but 'upgrading' to a totally unusable online interface means I have to take two businesses elsewhere - and I don't have the time. You even piloted this new dashboard with one of our accounts - didn't ask for feedback, didn't listen when I queried things by phone and still rolled it out to all customers. It is NOT fit for purpose.

I have banked with the co operative bank for several years with a few minor complaints that were dealt with quickly by their exceptional customer service people. No longer, I frequently have my card declined in stores despite being several hundred pounds in credit. As a disabled customer I rely on my card totally, when this has happened at an out of town location I have had to transfer from my wheelchair to my car, locate and drive to an ATM,transfer from my car again, get back into the car, drive back to the store to pay in cash, after transferring from car to wheelchair, then get back into the car. Ten minute transaction taking over half an hour. Getting from my wheelchair into the car is a painful experience which I would rather not repeat over and over again in short spaces of time. The reason my card was repeatedly declined? Apparently the transactions have been flagged up as dubious by their seemingly totally random fraud/security algorithm. This has happened to me twice in my local sainsbury's where I shop several times a week . The other reason that was given was (possibly) the amount of transactions, which is outrageous. I am in the process of switching to another bank.

ive banked with co-op as a business customer for about 15 years with absolutely no complaints until they changed online banking.
Jeez I'm pretty intelligent but their online banking is appalling.
Every time I click on my current account it tells me my overdraft is my interest rate etc but what I want to see straight away is my transactions. It took at least three logins and about an hour before I found them and now instead of having columns of incoming and outgoing they are all in one column. NOT HELPFUL. Can I find a list of direct debits and standing orders NO
Tried to ring customer services around half a dozen times and given up as on hold for at least 30mins. As a business im working trying to earn money not sitting on hold and not helpful due to short opening times too. Its all got lousy just lousy. Not good for business co-op. You need to look after your customers

Shocking, just shocking.Terrible service, just terrible. Unable to print of card statement , spoke to someone called AJ (?) today, got absolutely nowhere. He told me my complaint wouldn't be answered for 8 weeks! 8 weeks!!Have already closed my current account. Wrote a letter to the CEO who hasn't had the manners to reply when I complained about my treatment by them when in hospital with cancer. Don't go near them - you will 100% regret it.
