I've used the co-op for years, they have helped me through money troubles and always been there for me. They are ethical and stand for my own beliefs as well.

Avoid opening current account...

Maladministration Applied to open a current account in early August - on 28/8 they wrote to me and said all was good and provided sort... Maladministration Applied to open a current account in early August - on 28/8 they wrote to me and said all was good and provided sort code and account number. By 17/9 no debit cards had arrived and the took far too long to get them to us. A total of 7 weeks to open a current account. When I called them 17/9 I spent nearly two hours on the phone they could not find me from the account number they supplied or my name and address. It took the first 47 minutes of the call for them to find me. They said that I should have quoted the application number which did not show on their letter of 28/8. We took our business elsewhere. They said that it was because of an error made by their Bristol Branch. No one took ownership of this issue and I feel their complaints team is run by a bunch of uncaring incompetents who lack the basic skills to place themselves in the customers shoes. They offered me £100 but refused to remove the credit check from my record which bears a grossly unfair and unjustified negative on my Credit Record. Avoid opening an account at this bank they are very uncaring even when admit they got things wrong. Read more Read less

    Unco-operative

    Call themselves Co-operative this bank has been extremely unco-operative! False promises, broken guarantees, buck passing and ultimate upset. This operation discusses ethics when they should practice what they preach.

    You will require counselling- best of Luck

    To open a online business account with co op bank you have to go through the website and an app called HIB you will be... To open a online business account with co op bank you have to go through the website and an app called HIB you will be asked over 10 security questions You will have to remember over 5 different pass codes You will have to wait 2 weeks for a token to arrive in the post You will require an iPhone and a laptop You will need to spend 8 hours on the phone to technical support that will not be much help You will NOT be successful You will require counselling and possibly psychotherapy at the end of this process- Best of Luck Read more Read less

    I have been very impressed with this bank in general.

    I have been very impressed with this bank in general. Anytime I have had to contact them it’s been straightforward. The account I have is basic but functional.

    Overall poor service and possibly much worse

    The online app was very poor. I was unable to access my account. It was difficult to contact the co-op by phone. I wrote letters... The online app was very poor. I was unable to access my account. It was difficult to contact the co-op by phone. I wrote letters to close my account and it took several letters of complaint before my funds were returned to me. Letters and dates on correspondence seemed to suggest either they were unprofessional or worse still, not willing to pay me my money. I have now after several weeks received a cheque from them.     Something fishy going on, co-op will catch it!

    I am very careful with my bank details and keep my cards in special little folders so they cannot be scanned without my knowledge, yet... I am very careful with my bank details and keep my cards in special little folders so they cannot be scanned without my knowledge, yet despite this my card details were used to try to purchase hundreds of pounds worth of fish in Norway! The co-op suspected something, declined the transaction and blocked the card. A new one was provided quickly and my money was kept safe. very pleased with the actions and with the service I got from co-op personnel ay my local branch. Read more Read less
