Very easy to use online system, clear communication and good values.

Shocking. I applied for a first time buyer mortgage with these lot. Waste of time. They had the best rates at the time so I... Shocking. I applied for a first time buyer mortgage with these lot. Waste of time. They had the best rates at the time so I applied and provided all the paperwork they requested. Then I heard nothing for two weeks. They then asked for some more paperwork, which I provided on the same day it was requested. Then I heard nothing again. After another week they requested a damp survey be completed. I arranged for this to be completed the following week. Then, the day before the survey was due to take place, they rejected me. They rejected me because the property was going to be used as a holiday home and then for my retirement. Why that would cause any issues at all is beyond me. I'd also informed them on the day I applied that that was what the property was going to be used for. The whole process took eight weeks! Why waste my time and risk me losing the property because they were so slow is unforgiveable. They knew from day one what I would be using the property for, but they still made me jump through loads of hoops just to turn me down for something they'd known all along is a shocking way to run a business. The time they took was ridiculous. I applied for a mortgage from santander and two weeks later I was approved for a mortgage. And they were also told the property would be a holiday home and then retirement property and they had no issues with that. Why the co-op wasted my time fir so long without once mentioning that they had an issue with my use of the property is a joke. And why make me get a survey done only to reject my application the day before the survey was due to take place just goes to show how little they care for potential customers. We were members of COOPS UK who put us directly in touch with the Co-operative Bank regional agent and we were keen to have an ethical account in line with our values.
