Great account

Great current account giving £5 reward each month plus cash back to be earnt using your debit card in certain stores. Very helpful in branch when setting up the account talking us through everything really well, can't fault them so far. Reviewed on: 28th March 2016

Good interest and swift

£5 a month interest if you pay in £1000 and pay out a couple of direct debits - which is a good rate. Service has always been fine, and no problems with payments. Reviewed on: 29th November 2016

Disappointingly varied service

At my local Halifax branch the service and knowledge of staff varies from zilch to 100%, making asking for only knowledgable staff by name the only way to guarantee the correct information is given Reviewed on: 29th November 2016

Halifax have the best app by a long way

The app just works; it is reliable and relatively easy to navigate. Adding new payees is quite straightforward too. Reviewed on: 22nd November 2016

Terrible customer service

Two months ago I moved address and a few days later Halifax sent me a text to say my credit card would expire shortly after and to use my new card. I did not request a new card and the expiration date on my current card was years away so confused I phoned Halifax, only to find they had sent out a contactless card to my old address without telling me they would do so. I phone Halifax and got the card cancelled, then had to go to the hassle of completing a change of address form and wasting time to go to the post office as they do not accept emails for some reason, even if it is a signed letter scanned into an email. I then phoned back and asked for my card to be resent, which they said was fine. After 10 days I still didn't have my card so phoned back again. The guy working for Halifax didn't seem to have a clue. He just said, "if you ordered the card 10 days ago you should have it sometime next week.." Then I said can you be more specific or even tell me the day I called up to order it. He just said he wasn't sure but "it looks like it had been ordered about 10 days ago so sometime next week". I then waited another 7 days and still didn't have a card so phoned up again and was told they had sent the card to the wrong address again. After I had changed the addresss and phoned up to get the card sent out, and confirmed the new address with them they still sent the card to the wrong address. This third guy I spoke to as well was very cagey about what happened and kept saying there had been a mix up and "the card had been sent back" and only after I pushed him for a clear answer did he admit they had sent it to the wrong address twice. This is just one in a long line of mess ups Halifax have made regarding my account. I can forgive someone making a mistake however the poor customer service and deception of the staff, who were clearly trying to cover up a mistake, is unacceptable. A* Service

Very easy to set up and transfer from old bank account. In store staff always very friendly and make the process pain free. Great rewards and the upgraded account is great value for money. Reviewed on: 20th November 2016

Good Customer Service But Terrible Interest

While I realise that interest rates are low on all bank accounts, I do not believe there is any reason for them to be; the Bank of England rate does not determine what other banks can give on their accounts. Right now my current account offers no reason to keep money in it for any length of time, and to be honest neither do my savings accounts with Halifax either, which is why I have moved most of my money in other places where I can more easily make some return upon it. I've always found their customer care to be very good, with excellent staff, but until the products on offer match the quality of the staff it is hard to recommend. Reviewed on: 20th November 2016

I switched current accounts and halifax were very efficient in switching over all my direct debits within a week with no issues. Reviewed on: 19th November 2016
