EXCELLENT GOOD OLD FASHIONED CUSTOMER SERVICE

On every occasion I have contact the Society I have received prompt, courteous and informed advice about our savings. Their rates are very competitive and their range of products concise and easy to understand. Like we used to receive from our local bank manager - now long gone. Reviewed on: 4th September 2024

I had an issue with cheques, as I had sent off but with an impending bank switch. Even though my account with the BS had not yet been actioned, they went out of their way to retrieve my cheque to ensure it didn't bounce! Excellent customer service and above and beyond Reviewed on: 12th June 2025

Rubbish website

Applied for a new savings account as a new customer, the easy bit. Received an email with user ID and activation key and link to Harpenden Online then just went around in circles getting nowhere. Another website designed by very clever IT geeks to confuse people. Reviewed on: 8th June 2025

Amateurish - perhaps not even that good

Impossible to carry out intended task. Rang Society to be told that the person I was dealing with couldn’t help and I had to try online again. Did so - again without success. Had to ring them again. The person I spoke to this time was more helpful but couldn’t carry out the transaction in question. She said that their website was run by a third party and that there were issues! Currently, over 90% of accounts earn higher than the average savings rate in the UK.
