DO NOT USE HOMEPROTECT

Don't waste your money, you'll never get a pay out if you claim. They work incredibly hard to provide evidence the claim can't progress due to you not giving them the right information. I've spent the last 4 months jumping through hoops; pictures, quotes, videos and they are still looking for an excuse to stop the claim despite being initially told it was fine and was offered a cash settlement, but before I could receive it they passed it on to a loss adjustor who started asking for everything all over again. Its the most frustrating situation, so don't bother, you might as well put your monthly payments in a savings account for the inevitable. Homeprotect are the worst Reviewed on: 2nd October 2024

THE MARK OF A GOOD INSURER IS WHEN YOU TRY TO CLAIM!

In January 2024, during a cold snap, the water main supply pipe for our property burst. We were relieved to discover that our insurance with Home Protect covers the repair of the pipe, but the relief was short lived. Nearly nine months later and our burst pipe still hasn't been fixed, and there has been hundreds of litres of water leeching into the ground daily during this period. My wife and I have spent hours on the phone trying to get this issue resolved, without success. To make matters worse, the handling of our claim has been handed off to several different companies, each supposedly necessary to ensure the matter is resolved, but sadly it has been months of obfuscation, misinformation, zero communication, and a litany of excuses and ineptitude. The only communication we have received is to say that "we are waiting for a report," or "this is being escalated so we can get it resolved," or "we're waiting to hear from X, so we can get yet another report, which will say exactly the same thing as all the other numerous reports which we've been waiting for, but nobody knows what to report, or who to report it to, because we haven't got a clue about anything!" We currently have an Olympic sized swimming pool forming right next to our house, with the potential risk of water damage to the foundations, and when we try to convey the seriousness of the matter in hope of action being taken, we are just met with silence, or a poor attempt to convince us that they are taking the matter seriously. I look forward to Home Protect responding to this review with the usual generic response, designed to feign concern. Reviewed on: 17th September 2024

Beyond Awful Service

Came out to fix a water leak on my toilet, so turned water off and left me without a Toilet. Recalling my money and using a proper Insurance company. Dont waste your time despite me being disabled just fluff you off on the phone. Call has been expedited they say will have an answer in 24 hours. Yes you are an awesome service provider !! Huge renewal increase and poor account management.

I received two emails from Home Protect regarding the renewal of my home insurance. The first said that they had tried to take a payment for auto-renewal but the payment request had been refused. The second said, correctly, that I didn't have auto renewal set. Neither mentioned the renewal amount. When I contacted the company I realised why they had tried to auto-renew without telling me for how much. The premium increase was an enormous 60%. I was easily able to find another (better) policy for a reasonable amount with a Which? recommended company. Reviewed on: 23rd August 2024

Tried to take unauthorised payment

Home protect couldn't decide whether I had automatic renewal or not. So they sent me an email telling me that I had, but that their attempt to take a payment had been declined. The sent me a second email saying that I did not have automatic renewal and that I had to pay manually. At no time did they tell me the renewal amount. When I telephoned to find the cost it became clear why they had been reluctant to tell me. The increase was enormous. I learnt my lesson and moved to a different company with a better policy for less money. Reviewed on: 14th August 2024

AVOID THIS SCAM COMPANY AT ALL COSTS…… AVOID THIS SCAM COMPANY AT ALL COSTS… Payed my insurance premiums to this company only to be told after 4 months of having a hole in my roof that it’s down to poor workmanship and my claim is not covered. There is no customer services with home protect they just don’t call you back for nothing… a one off storm event has nothing to do with the condition of the roof.. please do not use this company as they will take your money and not cover you and remember the surveying officer that comes to the property is the wolf in sheep’s clothing for home protect this claim was all ways getting declined. Awful Company

I was insured with Home Protect for 8… I was insured with Home Protect for 8 years until today. Never again, I cancelled my insurance due to underhand tactics to charge me more for my policy due to their own errors. The company simply does not speak English, they deal in riddles and so many get out clauses their service is worthless. I could not get a straight conversation with their representative today. There are many more insurers out there who provide a much clearer and friendlier and honest service out there. I wont touch this company again and suggest that anyone considering them looks elsewhere also. I shall write a more detailed and scathing review when I have more time but wanted to put up this warning immediately to hopefully avoid others considering using them from having the same awful experience! Do not go with home protect

Please do not solicit this company's services. You would be left deeply disheartened and upset. I had my bag stolen next to me while having a post work drink with a colleague, all recorded on CCTV and reported to the police. It has been 3 months so far waiting for compensation for my Mac which was inside the bag. I was told the company was waiting for the police report, only to find months later that the company did not consider this as a theft only after giving them a call. No such request to the police had been made for months. I was then asked to contact the pub and obtain the cctv footage, which the establishment declined as it can only be provided directly to the police. I have beeb misinformed, stalled and spoken down to so many times. The worst service I have ever experienced. Reviewed on: 6th December 2023
