I switched from NatWest to Nationwide.

I switched from NatWest to Nationwide a number of years ago because I wanted a more ethical banking service, and Nationwide are rated in the top 3 across a range of environmental, humanitarian and broader ethical criteria. I use the online banking service and it's very accessible and efficient, to the extent that I've never had cause to use telephone banking. My only complaint would be that I can't pay in at the Post Office, and my nearest branch is a drive away. Reviewed on: 22nd January 2026

Very good app but awful if you're traveling.

Very good app but awful if you're traveling. Will block your card even after you tell them you're going abroad. However, I like that they have committed to keeping their branches open - I'm in a small town and they're the only ATM. Reviewed on: 22nd January 2026

Best for all ages.

In all my years of banking with various banks (65+ years), Nationwide are the only ones who have ever 'thanked me' for being a customer. I use a mixture of in branch and online banking, and have found their procedures reasonably easy to use. I am a bit of a technophobe, but their little device gets me online very quickly! Customer service comes first

When my mother and father both became vunerable they handled the processing of the power of attorney efficiently and when they both died they again processed the process efficiently. Their customer service is second to none. They are focused on customer service and not profit. One time I went in to the branch and the branch manager was on the shop floor asking customers if he could help with any queries and was veru busy with various queries.
