Review of the HSBC, Bank account:

Very helpful staff who go out of their way to help you (Kendal branch).

I travel a lot for work and I've often run into problems that HSBC has helped me out with. I once had my debit card stolen and it was difficult to get a replacement while I was abroad. However, the helpful staff at Kendal branch enabled me to get a new card promptly, and they also suggested making my mother a signatory to my account so that she can authorise such processes in the future should a similar situation arise. They really were very helpful! Reviewed on: 2nd January 2016

Fantastic customer service!

I've never had a problem with HSBC. I ring them, and I check my balance online, and it is always great. When someone used a clone of my card fraudulently they called me up and stopped the transactions before they went through. I have never had a fraudster gain access to my money with HSBC and when I call them my call is always answered within 1-2 minutes. Reviewed on: 25th August 2015

Great customer service

I have progressed from a student account to a graduate account and have been with HSBC for a number of years. I am primarily with them because I work abroad frequently and they really have branches everywhere! However, the highlight of my experience is from the staff at a UK branch, in Kendal. Anytime I have experienced a problem while abroad, they have worked to fix it asap and have helped me out of a number of fixes. They even give me a cup of tea whenever I pop into the branch. I really feel the customer service at the Kendal branch is fantastic. Reviewed on: 9th August 2015

A good mix of secure and simple.

Unlike many these days that seem to push endlessly towards apps for security or rely solely on passwords HSBC gives you a little keypad doodad which generates a code for you to log in with. Fortunately if the doodad breaks or gets lost you can still do basic banking, checking your balance and (I think) paying existing payees. But you can't set up new payees. To me, this is the best of both worlds. Outside of address changes (which went smoothly) I've never had to contact customer support. So can't really comment. On the other hand I've had the account for 14 years without needing to contact customer support so that says... something I suppose. Reviewed on: 9th August 2015

Thirty years with the bank but the relationship is coming to an end.

The lack of staff in branches has gradually become a real issue. The customer service by phone has always been hit and miss but the knowledgable and friendly staff in the branch were always HSBC's saving grace. With a skeleton crew manning busy banks most customers are now given a quick 'hello' from stressed meeters-and-greeters before being waved towards internet-banking terminals. Fine if you're PC-savvy but unfortunately not everyone is. Reviewed on: 9th August 2015

Good customer service when needed, but disproportionately high charges

3
I've been with HSBC with over 10 years now, and I've always found the customer service in branch second to none. The telephone and internet services are a little more hit and miss, but on the whole good value. However, the charges placed for unauthorised overdraft/bounced direct debits are disproportionately high, and there is sometimes too much red tape - I've been unable to remove a student marker from my account since leaving university seven years ago, because no one I speak to seems able to do it. Reviewed on: 9th August 2015

Un rewarding

There customer service is fine. But the interest rates are next to nothing with no incentives at all. Reviewed on: 9th August 2015

No benefit to banking with them

I've been with HSBC for years but am seriously considering switching. So many other banks offer incentives for switching but HSBC offer nothing for staying. Interest rates are poor and it's a nightmare if you want to speak to someone - ring them up and you're put on hold before speaking to someone based on the other side of the world, go into a branch and it's filled with machines with no staff to be seen! Reviewed on: 9th August 2015

great experience with HSBC

Always been with HSBC very helpful and give great advice, someone is always willing to help you when you have a problem Reviewed on: 7th May 2015

Does what it says on the tin.

I enjoy being with HSBC, they are reliable and secure. However, my main bug bare about them is that its hard to actually get to a counter at a bank. You seem to get interrogated on arrival at the branch and if it is something that can be solved on the phone you are more or less banned from going upstairs to actually speak to a person. Other than that though, I love how seriously they take my security. It's almost too tricky to transfer and access my money online. They have never given me a reason not to trust them and they do exactly what they say. They are a good, reliable, trustworthy bank, they just seem to shy away from face to face customer service. Great Customer Service

Friendly call center staff who gets straight to the point, in my case informing me to go to a branch. At the branch the staff are just as helpful and normally ones all ways free! Reviewed on: 29th April 2015
