Had a card for years the new one is a disaster

1
Have spent hours on the phone with. I reply. Paid the full balance on my account through the App 2 days ago still not appeared in my account they say there is a problem with the Payonline service. Not a good start to their new card provider. Also trying to renew house insurance with them but also hanging on the phone for hours also another new company Reviewed on: 1st November 2022

Car Crash!

Appalling! Ive spent hours trying to activate the new card, waited on the phone several times to speak to "an associate", once for over an hour! Whichever way I try to go, online or by automated phone ( I cannot do via the app, as we don't have mobile phone signal where we live) I only get so far until I'm told they need to put me through to "an associate" and I'm back in the queue! I am beginning to think it's a parallel universe and there isn't anyone answering the phones, they are hiding under their desks. I cannot set up any of my DD's and I am fuming at the waste of time and money. Get some more staff in and contact people to sort out this chaos John Lewis. Reviewed on: 1st November 2022

COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME - the rating should be 0, not 1

I have wasted two hours on two separate occasions trying to down load the app. I am computer literate. The physical card hasn't arrived - been waiting for weeks; and I am being told that my John Lewis details are wrong. They are not. An utter shambles. I will probably just return it. when it does arrive. Reviewed on: 1st November 2022

Fuming!

What an awful experience! I feel I’ve been punched in the gut. I’ve gone from £10000 credit limit on my old card to £250. My average monthly spend on old JL card was £1500-3000. I had the card for 20+ years. Always paid it off in full every month. In addition it was a right pain to set up. We’ll done John Lewis - great way to treat your loyal customers- not so loyal anymore! I might have finally got a card but

… it’s crap! Been trying to move standing payments from my old long standing JL card to the sorry excuse of a new service. Ended up putting must my payments into a different card as the new HL card keeps failing in set up. I’d originally got rejected for a card but persevered and challenged it and finally got accepted. But not sure why I bothered - the whole change has been handled so badly by JL. They Blame Newday - but Newday are acting under the JL name and brand and JL management should be ashamed Reviewed on: 31st October 2022

An end of an era

1
What an awful way to treat loyal customers. Having to reapply for the John Lewis Partnership card, and a company so downmarket as New Day taking over the finance. I have had a JL card for at least thirty years, have a big store near to us and over the years have spent a fortune. Told it will stop working today, and to re-apply for the new card. On reading the reviews, there is no guarantee that I would be accepted and I definitely do not want anything to do with New Day. Bye Bye, you should have consulted with your loyal customers before making such a huge change. Reviewed on: 31st October 2022

Teething troubles

New John Lewis app not compatible with my phone. Like others coukdnt set up payment details first month because John Lewis not listed under News at. That seems to have been fixed now. Asked for paper statements which are coming through late but might be due to postal strikes. So not best of starts and keeping a close eye on performance over next few months. New Day Card Rubbish

1
Why did JL even go to this company? Have been trying to setup the card for Business purposes(like the old trusted card)but a fiasco is an understatement, ring New Day all the lady said was you can pay now over the phone with any Debit card. She has no idea what to do about my issue.Looking for new card provider. New Day absolutely a nightmare. Reviewed on: 31st October 2022

What a disaster

1
Why did John Lewis decide to change from HSBC to Newday? Newday are absolutely awful. Spent weeks and many phone calls trying to get the code I had been sent to work to enable me to apply for the new card. Apparently there was a software issue. Having finally been accepted and the new card arrived found it to be contactless. Previously I had requested a non contactless card and HSBC had been happy to oblige. Called customer services again and the representative I spoke to was even more hopeless than those I had spoken to before. Several pieces of information he gave me turned out to be incorrect during the telephone conversation. Asked to speak to a manager, none available, was promised a call back but over two weeks later am still waiting. What has happened to John Lewis? I have been a customer for years. I gave up using Click & Collect when they started charging for this service. The stores have gone downhill with partners disinterested, lack of stock availability and product choice. Now with all the problems with Newday, who it seems couldn’t care less about John Lewis customers and the standards of customer care we have come to expect, I am thinking I will cut my John Lewis Partnership card up and not bother shopping in John Lewis again. A FEW WORDS

I don't need many words - NEWDAY - ABSOLUTE RUBBISH, shame on you John Lewis you are no longer rated as highly as you always were and at this rate never will be again. Reviewed on: 30th October 2022
