Unreliable card for 2nd card holder

As a second card holder, my card is always being declined 'just in case of fraud'. I am appreciative of fraud prevention, but I cannot tell you how many times I've been left high and dry in a shop, and they will only deal with the primary cardholder to sort these matters. I haven't used my personal card for months now and just have my husband's card on my Apple Pay - but it leaves me without a physical card. Also, adding the card to Apple Pay, requires a phone call, rather than just confirmation within the app (which in today's day and age, with everyone being so busy, is a ball ache!). Confusing & infuriating application process, nightmare.

Went through the application process for 0% balance transfer; total nightmare! Difficult to understand the questions regarding options concerning "minimum payment" versus "fixed" DD monthly payment which you select. No guidance. No explanation. I'm a bit of a numpty at this sort of thing and got incredibly confused. I just want a 0% interest CC where it's all worked out for me exactly how much I have to pay back per month to pay the amount back - plus the transfer fee - during the duration of the card. It shouldn't have been that hard for that information to be provided! And you can't ring MBNA to speak to a Person. Ooh no. That is not possible. Wish I'd never started this process. In my experience with this company, I can't remember anything positive. Customer support mishandled consumer issues, and there were constant reports of incorrect balances sent to credit reporting agencies, which can severely affect your credit score, particularly during a mortgage application. Moreover, getting anything resolved was nearly impossible, regardless of how many times I reached out to them. Ultimately, nothing was accomplished despite their promises. Big dissapoinment. I had a horrible experience with MBNA that has left me both frustrated and shocked. They sent me a completely incorrect bill, charging me rates that were not even close to what was agreed. When I contacted them to get an explanation, they could not provide any justification or calculation for these outrageous charges. The worst part? The customer representative boldly stated, "We can charge whatever we want." This level of arrogance and lack of accountability is absolutely unacceptable for any company, let alone a financial institution. I spent over two hours on the phone trying to get this resolved, only to be met with vague answers, dismissive attitudes, and no resolution whatsoever. Their customer service is disgusting, and it feels like they deliberately make the process frustrating to wear you out. They have no complaint manager as well to manage things. All she said throughout the call was that "I am right" I strongly recommend avoiding MBNA at all costs. Their practices feel deceptive and borderline criminal. Scammers!!! AVOID!!!!! I am extremely disappointed with the misleading tactics of this company. I signed up for their credit card, which was advertised as offering 0% interest on purchases for 21 months. However, after just 60 days, I started being charged interest on my purchases. When I contacted customer service for clarification, they informed me that the 0% interest rate only applied to purchases made within the first 60 days. Any purchases made after that would be subject to interest, which was never clearly communicated to me. This is deceptive and feels like a bait-and-switch tactic. They are not transparent about their terms, and it’s very easy to get caught out by these hidden conditions. I would strongly advise avoiding this company and their credit products at all costs. Terrible customer service.

Terrible customer service. I tried to dispute an unauthorized charge but they sided with the seller even after the product and service are taken back and seller promised a credit (have a proof) but never sent it. I showed it to MBNA but they couldn't care less. Reviewed on: 11th September 2024
