They have kept me loyal

I applied for an account with Nationwide about 12 years ago in the first place and the process was made very simple. I filled out a form and sent it off and then a week or so later my confirmation letter and bank card arrived. I like that the account comes with a debit card meaning I don't have to carry much cash around and I like that I can access my account online any time I want. They have added a card reader to the account so that you have added security online but you can still log in with your usual details, if you then ask to pay money to somewhere new you will be asked to use the reader preventing fraud. I am very happy with the account and have put my children's money in an account there too. Reviewed on: 29th August 2015

Honest, reliable, customer-focused service

I am now a longstanding customer (17 years) and have never had any reason to doubt the quality of Nationwide's service, both online and in branch. They offer above average interest rates on products for existing customers (ie rewarding loyalty not playing games to attract newcomers), and the recent Fairer Share payments are just the icing on the cake. While Nationwide's Fairer Share bonuses are appreciated, their interest rates on currents accounts are comparatively and sometimes extremely poor, and their customer service is woeful. Reviewed on: 12th June 2025

A happy Nationwide customer

I have held a Nationwide Flexaccount for over 40 years. I also have current accounts with other banks. Very impressed with the way Nationwide treats their customer loyalty. This year there has been the £50 'Big Nationwide Thank You', and soon there will be the £100 'Fairer Share' payment. I don't know of any other banks/building societies that reward their customers in this way. The Nationwide app is very user friendly. Only thing that could be improved would be transaction notifications on mobile phone screen. All things considered, I'm happy to give Nationwide my vote, and have already recommended them to friends & family. Reviewed on: 12th June 2025

Everything I want from a current account

I love the fact that my branch has a 24/7 foyer\vestibule with a paying in machine. My only gripe is that the menus of said machine are far slower that the type they use at Halifax. Fairer share scheme is also great value, just keep a min £100 in savings. Reviewed on: 12th June 2025
