Useful benefits compared to other package accounts

I never really expected myself to buy a packaged account, as typically they come with several products that are not particularly useful. FlexPlus however is a different breed of packaged account, which, for my circumstances, actually comes in useful. Particularly, we travel to europe by car fairly often, and the combination of travel insurance, european breakdown cover and fee-free cash withdrawals at the visa rate is really handy and means it's one less thing to think about when we go away - actually three less things! The extras are not just bog-standard insurances but are actually quite comprehensive in what they cover. I have actually used the breakdown cover and they were very helpful at the call centre in answering my questions about the policy, quickly arranging for a local recovery company to tow the car from home to a local garage. On top of this the mobile phone cover and extended appliance warranty are reasonable additions (sadly though an electric oven doesn't count as an appliance so this has been of less use to me as it is the only appliance I have purchased since opening the account) I would also like the option of a contactless card rather than apple pay which only a small minority can use. Overall this is an account with an excellent set of benefits and I have had no problems with the running of the account. For anyone who will make use of these benefits I would recommend it. After years of paying for the FlexiPlus account for its gadget cover, I made a claim for my broken iPhone. The experience with the external insurance administrator was poor. They were unhelpful, offered no loan phone option, and expected me to mail my device—which holds all my confidential data—creating significant hassle and security anxiety. The hurdles in the claims process are disappointing and not what you expect after years of premiums. I've now cancelled FlexiPlus. My advice is to get gadget insurance elsewhere where you can get local, practical help. A real shame, as Nationwide's core banking services have always been great for me. Have been with Nationwide for many years and they are just brilliant! Customer service is excellent. Helpful and efficient- so friendly! They make everything easy. Let me down completely in my hour of need

After years of having this account for the cover benefits I actually needed to call on the breakdown recovery today as my battery is flat and I'm on holiday in the northern hills of Spain. The operator was mostly interested in finding a get out clause from helping me, which he did, as my van is self converted as a camper van, so not covered it seems. I'm leaving. I can't stay with a company that looks for how not to help you when you're in your hour of need. Reviewed on: 27th May 2025

FlexPlus account is good value for money.

The FlexPlus account is really good value for money. The monthly fee is £18 and includes mobile phone insurance, travel insurance and breakdown cover! And I love that Nationwide pay their customers when things are going well! Reviewed on: 10th April 2025
