Awful Ordeal Whilst Being 7 Months Pregnant

We called yourselves on the 07/01/24 at 6.45am morning needing a plumber to come and fix our blocked pipe as the pipe had leaked all over our bathroom floor, however we was told we couldn’t have anyone attend until Monday AM. Leaving us unable to use our toilet. At this point we had buckets and towels full of water. It had blew our electrics as this had leaked into our kitchen, but again you still didn't send anyone to fix the issue. You sent an electrician to fix the electric issue, which he did so thankyou for that. However as the day has gone on, the toilet leak has gotten significantly worse to the point where our ceiling in the kitchen was leaking, the electrics had blown again meaning we were left with no boiler, no electric or no toilet. Please bare in mind, I am 7 months pregnant. Due to you leaving us without a toilet, I had to actually wee in the bath. Our bathroom was covered in phesis, which then became a hygiene issue. I had tried to ring you again, but didn't get any luck with being answered. This resulted in me having to ring an emergency plumber out (the first number that came up on google) to solve the issue. onday morning, when you were due to send a plumber out, i give it until 9am as you STILL hadn't assigned the job to anyone, i decided to ring and explain our situation and cancel the plumber. But i did then have to request someone come out and look at the kitchen ceiling due to the leak being bad. Due to the stress i was under and not knowing what would of happened if i hadn't of called an emergency plumber because you didn't help us and having to try to survive the rest of the month financially. i actually ended up in hospital - i have then been declined any sort of refund, and i have been ignored for 4 days straight and then brushed off by the advisors. Do NOT recommend to anyone in the slightest. Horrid ordeal. Reviewed on: 18th January 2024

Nothing but incompetency and stalling

Renewal price gone up and more expensive than others

My renewal price came through. I understand that inflation has happened and continues but my renewal quote has gone up 15%. I called to see if anything could be done. Their answer was no. I have my bank accounts and mortgage with them. Lady was rude on the phone. They are no longer looking after their members. For context, never made a claim, ever! Reviewed on: 20th September 2023

Helpful and efficient insurers

When our bathroom was flooded by an upstairs neighbour’s burst pipe, Nationwide were quick to react to my report of the incident. They were also surprisingly friendly and supportive, and did everything they could to coordinate technicians and surveyors in a prompt manner. They helped process our quotes and approve them quickly. Quote was twice the price of my last insurance even with 25% discount

I was looking to renew my building and contents insurance and obtained a quote from Nationwide as offering 25% reduction for member. I nearly fell off my seat when the quote popped up. I have been with nationwide home insurance for nearly 10 years and had never experience this worst service from them yet. Their service has gone really bad and will not recommend anyone taking their insurance. I have leakage from my ceiling and i was told they will send a plumber 2 days ago but i have not heard anything from them yet and when i ring them they make me wait nearly 2 hours and while waiting they just hang up my call. strange business practice at end of coverage

excerpt from our letter to a collection agency sent by Nationwide --- We regret to inform you that your company has paid money to Nationwide Insurance for worthless collections. The invoices involved were not authorized by us by any means (i.e., not by phone, not by letter, not by docusign, not by fax). Note that Nationwide Insurance did not bill our credit card, which they had on file when we started our insurance, for these charges. They would reasonably done so if the charges were legitimate. If they had billed our credit card we would have stopped such charges through the credit card company itself because we did not authorize any such charges and they could not prove we had authorized any such charges. Yes, we had insurance with Nationwide Insurance at one time. We paid IN ADVANCE for insurance coverage (automobile and renter’s insurance coverage), which is standard insurance company practice. Insurance companies do NOT engage in the practice of letting people buy coverage AFTER a claim. The coverage we had with Nationwide Insurance was for a specific duration only. The duration ended and we reinsured with another company. There was no permission given for charging in perpetuity. Nationwide, without authorization from us and without proof of authorization, say they continued coverage of our account for some number of months. We never authorized this. We have no proof that Nationwide did continue coverage because we never filed a claim after our insurance expired. We doubt that Nationwide would have honored a claim of any sort on a policy that was not paid for in advance. In fact, during our entire coverage with Nationwide we submitted no claims of any type, and they made enough profit from our policy to pay for claims of other insurees. We suspect they wanted to keep clients like us, so they claim they held our account open even without our authorization. If it is the practice of Nationwide to cover parties without payment of any kind before claims are submitted they would never have stopped our coverage since we have had no claims for auto or renter’s insurance. So the logic of this bills even more suspect. This is really very poor business practice by Nationwide Insurance and your firm should be warned not to pay for any similar accounts submitted by Nationwide. Reviewed on: 15th December 2022

Not worth the money

A while ago we were paying a large amount to the Nationwide to cover mortgage payments and extra. When we were made redundant with no pay at all we contacted the insurance department to make a claim. We explained that until we received some money we would be unable to pay next months insurance premium. Woman told us in that case your insurance is null and void and I am cancelling it.
