Review of the Santander, Business Current Account:

Pathetic and antiquated

Today I told Santander to cancel my business account application for a multitude of reasons, but here are the main points: *Told online application takes 3 business days *Applied on the 31st July online. Was emailed 4th August requesting more identification but this all had to be by post. *Also needed a cheque from my bank account to the business bank account. Haven't had a cheque book for 13 years, additional delay in ordering one. *Send documents away 23rd August *Hear nothing. *Phone on the 13th September - informed their service levels have slipped and it will be 15 working days *Hear Nothing *Phone on the 26th September, told there is still a queue and I'll recieve an email soon. *Receive email on 28th September telling me one of my of my documents can't be accepted due to the spelling of my first name, and the other isn't acceptable but no reason is given. *Tell them to cancel and stick it. Honestly, a waste of two months. Also, when I phoned for progress reports, I was often told everyone was too busy so I should call back later. SHOCKINGLY BAD SERVICE

I have been a business customer with Santander for over 20 years with no problems but was shocked by their appalling customer service and communication today. It has cost me over 4 freelance hours and I have been told I have to take more time off work to go into a branch to sort out the issue. Very stressful and shockingly bad regard for their customers. Would not recommend Santander buisness banking.

Would not recommend Santander buisness banking. Our business, established nearly 30 years with a healthy revenue, applied for a corporate account nearly 3 weeks ago. To date, we have received NO communication from their onboarding team. Totally unprofessional, unreliable & unresponsive! NEVER AGAIN!! Our business will now look elsewhere. Closed business account that I’d held for 10 years never in debt always in credit yet after months of questions from staff they employed from non banking background asking silly questions which we answered easily they said we passed all checks then 6 months later with no explanation we receive letter stating they closing our business account and thst they don’t have to give an explanation. Best in mind i also have 2 current accounts 2 different isas a credit card and a savings account with them all of which in credit for more than 25 years !! Not allowed to ask why they decided to close business account . Horrendous behaviour I always told my friends and family to join Santander as a bank as we as a family total 10 accounts all in credit and good credit levels but now that has ended shoddy behaviour and I’m not the only person hundreds have told me how Santander after up to 40 years with them are having accounts closed so no don’t go near them Reviewed on: 16th January 2024

Continuous poor experiences with Santander bank admin leaves me currently unable to receive OTP's so unable to pay suppliers. This has been ongoing for 8 days now and still no resolution. You are kept on hold for 20 minutes before being passed from department to department. Reviewed on: 27th October 2023

Amateurish customer support, long waiting times and archaic web based utilities. AVOID

I'm currently on hold for 40 mins for the third time in as many days trying to sort out a simple fraud check for an invoice payment. I've been blocked out of my account for this period, and have been told 3 different stories, and that resolution would be happening. On each occasion the resolution hasn't happened. My patience has run out with Santander. Their mobile app and website is like something out of the noughties. Phone support is appalling with long waiting times and clueless staff. Avoid at all costs. Santander employee acting like a fraudster

A person recently phoned me, who claimed to be Santander employee and asked me to state my Date of Birth "to pass security". At that point I had no way of knowing, whether this really was a Santander employee calling me, or a fraudster fishing for my personal information. Guess my surprise, when a few weeks later, I learned that this really was a genuine Santander employee !? I complained to Santander about this practice, but they have the audacity to defend their practice, and do not want to change their security policy. This sets a dangerous precedent. If Santander acts in a way, that customers can not distinguish a genuine Santander employee from a fraudster, this is exactly what the fraudsters want, because it helps them to clear out people's bank accounts. Barge Pole-Never ever use and steer clear

Santander went from the best business bank to the worst! Probably too busy looking after Lewis Hamilton rather than their own customers. Sadly my friend had £4000 taken from her account and 4 months later they still haven't given it back!!! they got HACKED without a doubt as nothing on her account and does not use her phone to pay for things! For me they just closed my account so I cannot run my business and do direct debits! Honestly what a useless Bank to help you through the cost of living! Shocking! The Poor People at the end of the phone just type into the system and nothing ever gets done! The managers never access the system to make decisions and the people answering the phones have NO power at all. Would never ever trust them! They failed to get rid of everyone when they tried to take away their free banking forever, but now they close your accounts causing you to open one of their products that charges you for everything! Hidden commissions

Every month there was a debit of 18,23 with the name “card payment”. When I asked why, I understood that I was paying 11,99 for Netflix and 6,24 for Santander. This is a fraud. Reviewed on: 10th June 2023

Disappointed

I tried to set up a new business current account last April 2022. I phoned through my details and advised the customer care assistant that I would like the account to be set up by the end of April in time for me to start invoicing for my new business. At the time of writing this review, 1 year later, I have still not received a communication back advising on the status of my application. Needless to say I went elsewhere to open an account, which is an awful shame as I currently hold Santander standard current account and savers account. I even had mortgages in the past and have never had any issues. Reviewed on: 3rd April 2023
