We were discriminated against by Santander

We came to the end of a 5 year fixed term mortgage with Barclays. We have a LTV ratio of over 60% and perfect credit... We came to the end of a 5 year fixed term mortgage with Barclays. We have a LTV ratio of over 60% and perfect credit scores having never missed a payment. Our mortgage advisor recommended switching to a Santander product, so we applied. They certainly gave us the run around, asking for more and more evidence of income, identity etc, which I found odd given our history, it felt like they were treating us as first time buyers. Then, after months of back and forth they decided to withdraw their offer simply because our household income includes a disability allowance for me as I'm severely disabled. This was pure discrimination. I'm furious that they'd let us pay our mortgage advisor, been through about 4 hours of interviews and sent countless pages of paperwork only to tell us this at the end. So we've been through all of that to stay with out current mortgage provider! Read more Read less

    I've had a credit card with Santander, since the took over from Leicester Building Society. We never had any problems with them and their customer services when contacted are excellent.

    I never thought I would vote for Santander but they have excelled themselves with the ISA on offer. It is a one year fixed rate... I never thought I would vote for Santander but they have excelled themselves with the ISA on offer. It is a one year fixed rate with an excellent interest rate, far more competitive than they have offered in the past. The only drawback is the amount of interest you lose of you need to close the account, quite a loto more than other financial services. On a positive note, I received a £200 voucher for transferring an ISA from another provider. Read more Read less
