This is one of the worst banks in the world. Their customer support has no interest and knowledge in managing customers and the phone calls repeatedly hanging, so get ready to wait a
very long time. Even if you do get a hang of them, they would lie to you, so you cannot believe anything they say. They'll tell you, here is a person who will solve your problem and this person would just promise to call you later, but wouldn't. Moreover, as other people wrote here, they apply many obscure charges to your account even if you want to close it. I have never seen anything like that. I am sorry
that I did not read these reviews before I opened the account, but hopefully, this review will help other people.

Doesn’t even deserve one star. This service is absolutely appalling the team is pathetic they have the working capacity of a single man you’d think the security team consists of one guy working half hour a day as the amount of time it takes to get correspondence is ridiculous my account got blocked for no apparent reason and I have been left with no money to access for travel to my place of education I am 18 years old what could have possibly caused my bank to flag up? Im a student currently unable to live and struggling all because of this selfish disgusting team of people with the worst possible approach to such a situation it is going on a week now since my account was blocked, absolutely disgusting and I’m almost certain I won’t receive any form of compensation at the end of all this from the selfish horrible company. Don’t go with Santander unless you want the p*as pure taken out of you.

After 4 weeks of waiting they kept asking for documents after documents! Then suddenly the affordability dropped from 167k to 108k !!! Made no logical sense !!! Il say dont put yourself through this stress ! Not worth it

Both my credit card and debit card declined for no apparent reason yesterday in Sainsburys so trolley full of shopping had to be abandoned! Plus I was on way home from work with not enough petrol and couldn't fill up so had to leave car there and get picked up by my fiance'. Had loads of credit in my CC and over £15k in my debit card. Called when I got home and their automated system refused to accept my call unless I had lost my card or it was stolen. Called this morning and waited over an hour to get through to speak to a customer advisor who said it was sainsbury's terminal for the debit card decline and their fault for the CC glitch. NO aplology whatsover and no reimbursement for trouble and inconvience, loss of time and effort. In fact the customer advisor was quite short with me when in fact there should have been an apologise somewhere there!? I am now taking my business elsewhere...absolutely disgraceful service to a premier customer!

We have had more problems with Santander conducting in a non-professional way. If you want to be shocked type into the Internet "Santander fines".... Santander have been fined on many occasions (2014/2018/2019) by the FCA these fines amount to well over £100 million pounds. As such I leave it to your imagination whether you consider this bank acts in a compliant way and has respect for their customers as the FCA who regulate them obviously consider them non compliant, hence their numerous fines (of which we as customers must have to pay for one way or another/loss of interest etc). By all of my experience they do not appear to improve at all. Question begs do you want to give them your business?

Unbelievable customer experience over 1. 5yrs off living hell trying to deal with our mortgage, maybe just maybe if staff would take time to do the basics like reading the computer screen in front of them it just might help them understand the consequences of there actions, but no they don't, any agreements made with advisers will not even be followed by Santander, the staff just can't follow through, you will be lied to on multiple occasions and they will transfer money without permission or authorisation in fact they go against policy and banking regulations and will expect you the customer to sort out there mess

Account was credited with transfer from another bank. The transfer was verified within hours and on the account it was labelled as pending. This pending was unchanged f8r 10 days inspite of numerous calls to customer service and fraud team. Both say the money is there awaiting release by the computer. What a nonsense feedback. Each one tiu speak to put blame on the previous guy and they say it was not actioned previously and will immediately action it. NOTHING HAPPENS. Keep waiting and waiting and same nonsense was told . I dont know how these guys are earning their living. Is there someone there to check on them. Are they real. Finally we got so fed up with them that the referring bank is clawing the transfer. Closing the account is 100% option.
Wake up guys . Are you in deep coma .

This is two out of two experience with Santander . Their service , feedback and quality is appalling , and extremely poor communication among different sections of the bank. Feel their feedback is unreal, repetitive, boring and extremely unprofessional. Throwing excuses and blaming each other for not doing the request or job properly. This behavior in unethical, unprofessional and causes dismay and resentment by the customer. Not tackling the real issue, importance of customer complaint and reason behind it and you feel their presence is artificial. Experience tells me that mistakes are human made and not computer generated.

So I was planning to swap to Santander from RBS as part of th Business Banking Switch where switchers get £4000. I registered my interest and called up and went in store, they started the ball rolling with a phone application booked in. This never happened and I called to find out why, they weren't sure why it was missed and rearranged, them Coronavirus hit and it all grinded to a halt.

Now things are calming down I re-registered my interest and once again called up and went in store, however this time I was told that they were not accepting new applications at that time due to coronavirus (this was at the time of my last message 20th June)

This seemed reasonable and so I had been waiting to hear back that they are accepting applications again however I have now been informed by RBS that they have left the scheme and now I am now never allowed to apply for it.

I called them again and they have said they won't honour it or an equivalent deal. Because I've spent so long trying to set up an account with them there are no banks in my area in the scheme anymore

I am currently applying online for a mortage... Request for documents are never ending!! We both work full time and in good jobs... All the usual documents were sent and we get a message telling us they have all the info they require.. Yet... They then come back asking for more!!! Each time we send them what they ask for and the same happens again!!! It's happened 3 times now and if they don't get their ars into gear we will loose this property! Very poor company... We should have gone elsewhere!
