This is the most awful bank in the world period. Dont even go near them. I did an online transfer and they locked out my account and after 5 calls with one hour wait each timie, and two days still dont know when it will be done. It is being reviewed by back office and within their time ranges they say. Cannot say when it will be done. Their security question asks for a recent transactin amount! with your online account locked out

Despite appearing you’ll get an instant reply, one you completed the application it tells you that you’ll receive an email in 24 hours of the outcome. Then you’ll receive paperwork to be signed off accepted in the post. Given the online nature of everything this surprises me. Rather than waiting this 24 hours and by previous reviews where they hike the apr I went direct to my bank First Direct. Within 5 minutes of clicking the money was in my bank! Santander need to up their game!
I only wish I’d seen these reviews before I applied.

We have two business bank accounts with Santander, for companies in the same group. We tried to open a third account, for a new company we acquired. It has been 13 weeks to date, and not one person in the team is able to tell us why it is taking so long. What's more, they have now asked us to recertify our other two accounts as well! The communication is shockingly bad. *Turnover >£5m.

Very high APR

They will show you a low APR4% to get you to apply and then give 24+% APR. At that moment in time I was desperate for the money I had no choice but to take it, I feel like was taken advantage of and now I am paying the price.

7 weeks into our application for a relatively small loan on our mortgage (with a good proportion of equity) and we are still being asked stupid questions and being sent back and forth between the underwriters and info gathering team. We have been to the underwriters 4 times now, every time we need to provide more information we go to the back of the que and have to wait 9 days just for them to review the new information!!!! Cannot escalate a complaint apparently as online applications have no way of doing this. Rude unhelpful staff who sound peeved you dare to call. Sorted our loan out with Nationwide within a couple of days and told santander where to stick it. Certainly wont be remortgaging with them when the time comes and i will be switching my other accounts!!!

After having my mortgage amended to another property and approved. Santander after 6 weeks evaluated the previous property instead of the current one im buying. The stress and delays is affecting my mental health. I get pushed from one advisor to another. Nobody takes any ownership. You might think you are getting a good rate trust me it isnt worth it. They are con merchants

I am the victim of identity theft and criminals are applying for accounts and credit cards in my name. Santander happily set up the account without due diligence. Three weeks, six calls and a formal complaint later, the account is still open and Santander still insists it is genuine. In the meantime ten other banks have stopped the process, removed searches from my credit report and reported it as fraud to Cifas. Santander does not care, their actions are actually supporting the criminals. Whenever I call I need to wait for at least an hour to deal with rude and unhelpful staff. Honestly avoid at all cost!

So I took out this product, I no longer need it/ its not sutible for me I tried to cancle , has to be done in bank not on app web or phone, and they tried to sell me a mortgage, I still have it and want it closed, so time consuming and not very helpful. However if you just want to save each month and view in the mobile app, its brilliant. just not for me and hard to remove.

Luke from Liverpool is a man child.

Santander has control freaks working their telephones. Luke was demanding, insulting, obnoxious and disrespectful. Just pathetic really. I’ll never use Santander again.

They do not care about you! Avoid at all costs. I'm being made homeless on Friday due to the amount of time being taken by Santander. I started my house move process in May. Got my final bit to sign from the solicitors in August. Told my landlord i would be out on 22/10/2021. He now has tenants moving in on that date. I have no family or friends to stay with and any money i do have now will now need to be spent on a hotel while all my possessions sit in my van outside. I just called and explained my situation again and got hung up on. I've gone to write this review and did not realise how bad the reviews are for Santander. They are shocking! I feel sick from the worry of being out on the streets. And seeing these reviews scare the life out of me. Sort it out Santander either get more staff or only take on more work when you have enough people to work it.

Basic Current Account

Terrible bank.

They blocked my access to my account randomly after months of use. I can’t access my money. If I didn’t have another bank account elsewhere I’d be in trouble. I’ll never use Santander again.

Avoid a mortgage with these people as they will 100% try and rip you off and just because they have nice suits and offices, does not mean they are not utter scam merchants.
beware and spend some time looking at alternatives and it will save you "£1000's in the long term

I am trying to get an additional loan on my property and the underwriters are asking silly question one month into the process it still hasn't progressed. Why can't they just call me is could be sorted in miniutes not months. The online portal says they will get back to you with in one day, forget is you won't hear back from them for days if at all. Absolute Nightmare!!!

I am an existing mortgage customer with Santander, switched over from another bank. I regret the decision so much! Currently on the phone still waiting to be connected. The first time I called, it just disconnected after 15 minutes randomly, my second call-in took another 15 minutes for someone to pick up and the person who answered was so abrasive, eventually got through to someone else who was more pleasant to deal with but couldn't help me. Asked to call me back, within 3 days, and as usual no direct line to call my mortgage advisor. Just really bad service, I expect more and cannot wait to change banks.
