I got this card (my first and only credit card, I try to avoid them generally) specifically because it has the best rates for spending money abroad. Best of all, there is no charge for withdrawing cash from ATMs overseas- so I only use it when abroad, and pay it off in full each month. Using this saves me loads of money which would have been spent on fees, commissions etc when using my debit card, or bureaux de change.

I've had very little reason to contact customer services, but on the one occasion i did, they were helpful and quick to sort things out. I'd recommend this for anyone who spends even a little time oversea, for business or pleasure.

Don't Grow Old with Halifax

Been a loyal mortgagee of Halifax for more than 10 years. My deal is coming to an end, so contacted them for a NEW DEAL - THEY SAID NO. Their deals last 2 years 3 months - my O/S mortgage is 2 years 2 months. They didn't offer a new mortgage for a further month - JUST SAID NO! So loyalty counts for nothing with Halifax, nor does being old as they refused to extend my mortgage (I am coming 65).

The person who I spoke with did make a further comment regarding my outstanding mortgage and I quote "WE WOULD PREFER IT IF YOU REPAID YOUR MORTGAGE NOW RATHER THAN WAIT 2 YEARS" - Nice to be appreciated by a friendly, caring bank - NOT

So a word of warning to everybody out there, that's getting old - Don't grow old with Halifax

The savings made on no fees for withdrawing cash is great. However when they block my card they send me a text asking to confirm it was me. Unfortunately this text costs me £6 a time to respond to as I am outside of europe. The fact they have blocked it 3 times means it has cost me £18, much more than the ATM fees for other cards

I opened 3 junior ISA account in local branch.
I am unable to obtain balance on my 3 children's ISA accounts unless I physically go into the branch. I having set up internet banking but only able to view their regular saving accounts. Telephone helpline could not give me any information.
I have never received yearly statements for their accounts, having had the accounts for 2 1/2 years and when contacting helpline to arrange postal statements I was told I would need to go back into the local branch to set this up.
I now wish to close all accounts with Halifax due to their poor banking service, however when opening the ISA accounts I was not informed that I would never be able to close these accounts or transfer them to another junior ISA and they would have to keep their accounts until they are 18 years old.

You lost another customer, including our mortgage, cards and banking accounts! These guys change their term on their cards so often it's shocking. All banks are in serious trouble so they are changing their terms to rip you off as much as possible before they all fold and do a bail-in. Get out of debt soon, these thieves are doing all they can to take as much as possible. They doubled my interest on my card, stating if you dont pay full balance, the 56 interest free days is invalid and they slam you with a huge minimum payment and double interest. AVOID THESE GUYS!

I dont usually write reviews but Halifax have really screwed us over. We were due to complete our house today and move in but last minute Halifax said they did not receive our solicitors letter. This was at 9am and followed by 4 hours of calls and 2 hours of being on hold only to find out that it was actually too late for them to send a confirmation email on a Friday. Now we have no home and nowhere to live until Tuesday. This is the worst bank I have ever dealt with. Do not get your mortgage with Halifax, go anywhere else. The staff are really inefficient and really unhelpful and you will spend hours trying to get hold of someone on the phone only realise it was a total waste of time.

The best price on the market at the time I was looking, but after tweaking my policy mid-term to add commuting, I was surprised to see a £25 charge taken as direct debit.
I made the amendment online, and with email policy documents, most others only charge if done by phone do out of step with the rest of the market.
