I got this card (my first and only credit card, I try to avoid them generally) specifically because it has the best rates for spending money abroad. Best of all, there is no charge for withdrawing cash from ATMs overseas- so I only use it when abroad, and pay it off in full each month. Using this saves me loads of money which would have been spent on fees, commissions etc when using my debit card, or bureaux de change.

I've had very little reason to contact customer services, but on the one occasion i did, they were helpful and quick to sort things out. I'd recommend this for anyone who spends even a little time oversea, for business or pleasure.

I have been a customer with Halifax since 2011 and have had ongoing problems with them.

Over the years my debit card gets unexpectedly blocked by Halifax when they decide there has been a few too many transactions (online shopping etc.) I have complained several times about how they will just block a card and do nothing to resolve it.

Recently I have decided to switch because I had my purse stolen in town, with both my Halifax credit and debit cards in. I received the credit card (not working, contactless not authorised) and from 15th Feb as of today 26th Feb I have yet to receive my debit card.

No response from Halifax, have had to rely on cash from family for the past 2 weeks and have embarrassingly had to hand things back at checkout when cash couldn't cover it. I am completely dependent on Halifax and they leave me without any cards for nearly 2 weeks.

Opening a case with Financial Ombudsman out of principle. Can't wait to switch to RBS

Useless and incompetent complaints team

Avoid them at all cost. They're a bunch of thieving arrogant morons who impose charges and fees left right and centre. They will not inform you when your fixed rate is over and cash in on overpayment until you switch! Their complaints team is useless...

Despite having banked with Halifax for over ten years, never having had an overdraft and always in credit by four figures I was refused a clarity card for my forthcoming four week trip. Could not do it on line, branch could not do it and I was obliged to call at the branch several times and still refused and advised I had to do it via telephone banking going through all the questions again. Appalling behaviour by Halifax, but good news for me. I have moved to Starling and TransferWise and could not be happier with my choice of banks

I took out my car insurance a year ago with Halifax, when I did I ticked the box to say that I did not want my insurance to automatically renew after the twelve months was up.
Well twelve months is up and they have took the money for an extortionate renewal without my permission. I am told that it will be four weeks before I get back my money.
On contacting them I found that their attitude was awful.
I will never use a Halifax company again.

Wanted to close my childen's Little Saver accounts and add them to my current account, so I could transfer the money to them. We've moved several times so it was a little more tricky BUT my goodness the lady (Kayleigh) who looked after me worked like crazy and with such happy friendliness, all despite a growing queue (which she was still aware of and reassured them constantly). If Halifax provide customer service to this standard then I want more.
