I got this card (my first and only credit card, I try to avoid them generally) specifically because it has the best rates for spending money abroad. Best of all, there is no charge for withdrawing cash from ATMs overseas- so I only use it when abroad, and pay it off in full each month. Using this saves me loads of money which would have been spent on fees, commissions etc when using my debit card, or bureaux de change.

I've had very little reason to contact customer services, but on the one occasion i did, they were helpful and quick to sort things out. I'd recommend this for anyone who spends even a little time oversea, for business or pleasure.

THE CREDIT CARD IN ITSELF IS GOOD FOR USE ABROAD. BUT if you get a problem customer service is ignorant. I had over £1000 in credit in my account which i had written to them in writing several times to return my money, four months later no response, so I wrote a formal complaint suddenly my money was back in my account but still no letter of apology nothing. Also had my card blocked so many times, I write due to disability you get no response, you ask for reasonable adjustment and nothing is done so very discriminatory as a whole as no facilities for people who can't use phones due to disability, the bank staff have no answer either or do anything about it. My Father now is trying to get his money back under section 75 being sold faulty goods, two and a half months later still not even acknowledgment of the letter so now going to formal complaint and ombudsman if he has too.

Love I can set up bank transfers by phone
I have poor mobility so their telephone banking service is fantastic. In house advisors are also highly trained, and advise on the best products for you. Our Kettering Branch should win an award. Best Bank ever been with, and I am 70 now. Ours is the ULTIMATE REWARD ACCOUNT we like the extra benefits and overdraft facilities too.

Halifax are not providing a service. I am in a vulnerable situation, i have let you know and yet it makes no difference to your service. You are impossible to contact and everyone i speak to has a different update, not sure your staff are working in the correct departments. This poor service has been ongoing since March.

My elderly Parents recieved an email asking if they wish to take a payment holiday because of the awful situation and they didn't know whether we between the family would get out and be able to pay their clarity card invoices as they would be on total lockdown.

The last 2 months we have managed to get out and pay them in full yet Halifax have still charged interest even though they should not because they agreed to take a payment holiday.

They payment holiday is being used by Halifax as an excuse to charge vulnerable people and of course charge interest which has not been accrued.

Making money in such a way while making out it is somehow helping you is totally despicable and as such we will be getting legal advice.

You should be ashamed

I was sold a '5 year fixed' deal, which wasn't - I am being charged thousands to 'early exit' even thought we've been here and never missed a payment for over 5 years.

Their systems are archaic - I spent multiple hours on the phone and in branch as they couldn't bring my personal and mortgage accounts under the same umbrella, meaning I was locked out of viewing and managing my mortgage for weeks. They gave me around £100 for this, but it took about a day to sort and 3 weeks to implement. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

I have been trying to set up online banking for the last 4 weeks. The whole process is so convoluted, it's a mess. Multiple visits to the local branch, at their insistence, and many lengthy phone calls and they still can't seem to sort out the problems at their end. So much contradictory advice and instruction from Halifax Online Banking customer service, they just keep sending me in circles. The customer service agents have in the main been polite but unfortunately ineffectual. One Halifax Online Banking customer service agent, Ed, at the UK call centre felt the need to be extremely rude and obstructive.

Setting up online banking with other banks has been a breeze compared to Halifax Online banking. I have had accounts with Halifax for decades but I'm giving serious consideration to migrating everything over to one of my other banks after this experience. Disappointing.

Halifax bank is disgusting I have been an account holder for in excess of 20 years I am 73 years and I have just had an operation for stomach cancer and now I have a lump in my liver that is being investigated. I called today to try to transfer £100.00 to an elderly lady in London that has no money and no shopping she lives 50 miles from me I called the Halifax and waited 50 mins for my call to be answered went through the security including my voice is my password and was connected to a gentleman at the Halifax re refused to allow me to make the transfer and was not helpful at all I asked to speak to a supervisor as it was a matter of urgency and possibly life and death he connected me to another agent who again refused to allow me to transfer money I was told I could raise a complaint which I did and was told it would take a week before anyone came back to me in the meantime someone has no money or food eventually I was informed that I wasn’t talking to a supervisor so I asked to be connected I was then told I couldn’t be connected as I had raised a complaint.Under the circumstances I am disgusted with the Halifax everyone is in lockdown not allowed out we are both elderly and I have underlying problems and they refused to help I have a fair amount of money in my account and only wanted to transfer £100. To possibly save someone’s life but I now have to either drive the 120 mile round journey or pay a courier I spent one and a half hours on the phone I will be taking this up with the F.O this is disgusting treatment of elderly people

I've had a nightmare experience with Halifax. I had a valuation done on a property, which you have to pay £200 for, other lenders do it for free. The valuation report was never signed off, which means we couldn't get the mortgage. It took 3 months of going back-and-forth, trying to satisfy their valuation company with the documents they needed. Every single one was rejected and the same scripted speech was given as a response each time. It was like being in an episode of Little Britain, "Computer says nooo!". The concern was around cladding, on a concrete building. They couldn't tell us where the cladding was, just wanted the developer to say it was safe. They rejected the letter saying it was safe, which was signed off by someone with the qualifications listed in their requirements of the letter. That was the last straw, it was impossible to get this mortgage, so I went with another lender and got the mortgage almost instantly. They robbed me of £200 and are refusing to refund it. They told me to contact the Financial Ombudsman Service and escalate it further if I wanted to. They don't care about you, they just don't care. They don't care about having you run around in circles trying to please them. They offer nothing but scripted spiel and cannot, simply, deviate from that script and tell you exactly what was wrong with what you gave them, when you feel like you have satisfied that scripted spiel. Mindless drones!!!!

My husband had an accident in Glasgow on a Saturday. It took hours to get through to the insurance on the phone and then another 3 hours for the recovery truck to get there. The truck would only take the car to an unspecified 'secure' place in Glasgow leaving my disabled husband stranded in Glasgow. The claims department only works office hours so he couldn't even contact them until Monday. Since then they keep fobbing him off with assorted excuses why his car has not been taken to the local garage for repair and until it's received the garage won't let him have a courtesy car. Shocking treatment of a disabled driver who is dependent on a car.
