I got this card (my first and only credit card, I try to avoid them generally) specifically because it has the best rates for spending money abroad. Best of all, there is no charge for withdrawing cash from ATMs overseas- so I only use it when abroad, and pay it off in full each month. Using this saves me loads of money which would have been spent on fees, commissions etc when using my debit card, or bureaux de change.

I've had very little reason to contact customer services, but on the one occasion i did, they were helpful and quick to sort things out. I'd recommend this for anyone who spends even a little time oversea, for business or pleasure.

I need to close my Help to Buy ISA account and the bank is requiring me to to this in branch. Their 9:30-15:30 opening hours make this practically impossible as they open after the start of and close before the end of normal working hours. With all city centre offices currently closed due to COVID, lunch time is not feasible as there's physically not enough time to drive over, get this sorted and drive back home during a lunch break. Extremely disappointing I can't simply close this account online or over the phone. Sadly, Halifax seems to be among the banks that are still 10 years behind in their online service capabilities.

Dreadful waste of space as a bank,I would be ashamed working for this joke of a bank, and running a five star business,I advise my clients of not trusting these clowns with their hard earned money, the advisors are powerless, and can only put a complaint forward to a bunch of comedians that don't even contact you in the five days promised,I'm running into months now.
I will continually expose until my issues are resolved, they are aware I have had a stroke caused by stress, but am still caused
major stress by a bunch of bankers !

Halifax makes it IMPOSSIBLE to redeem your mortgage- you can never leave!!!!

By far the WORST WORST WORST company I’ve ever dealt with. 2hrs 30 mins on the phone, nothing whatsoever resolved. Complete incompetence- can anyone believe Halifax can’t actually send emails. They haven’t ‘got the faculty’ to email urgent documents to anyone, even if it means they will be ruining a sale from going through and ruining their chance to get redeemed FOR THE SECOND TIME!!! Halifax makes it IMPOSSIBLE to have their mortgage redeemed. So much red tape in place and incompetence that they literally ruin sales from going through so that there is NO WAY to ever redeem your mortgage to them !!! Wow, horrified, in shock! Don’t get a mortgage with Halifax, unless it’s too late for you, as it sadly is for me!

I have had nothing but antagonistic behaviour from start to finish.
A burst water pipe and my downstairs ruined and repairs and painting half done or paint painted over dried peeling paint wood work, items damaged and no one informed me, no expection of your property at the finished date before signing off- recipe for disaster ! I will not be recommending Halifax home insurance to anyone.

With the current situation banks have reduced lending And Arne asking for a 15% deposit, even though the Government has tried to help the housing market by stamp duty break. Most banks will provide existing customers along with first time buyers a mortgage with a 10% deposit. So if you are with the halifax as an existing mortgage customer and you took out a mortgage 2 years ago with a 5 year fixed rate and you want to move. A mortgage of £300000 would mean you would be ok with £30000 deposit. Beau asked of their greed they now want £45,000 deposit and if you have not got the additional £15,000 you can not port your mortgage so to move home you have no choice but to find another lender and pay a penalty for not staying with the Halifax. So either find another £15,000 before the stamp duty dead line in March or pay the Halifax over £5000 to be able to move now.. Won’t allow you to port your mortgage and penalise you fir trying to leave.

We called to add an additional car to our policy. Instead, they cancelled our insurance and only insured the second vehicle, months later we received a letter saying we had been driving around with no insurance. We requested recordings of the call and my husband clearly stated it was an additional car.

I had a comprehensive home insurance with Halifax up until last week. I tried to claim in July for a broken computer. My first insurance claim in 11 years. So I sent in a claim which was acknowledged, two weeks later nothing heard so I rang them. They knew nothing of it. So they asked for a variety of things including an estimate for repair. They then handed the claim to an agency. They rang me a week later, obviously they didn't wish to speak to me, wanted the same and more information. They are uncontactable by phone and so hostile it's untrue!
So we are into this over a month by now. I replaced the item myself and cancelled the claim. I asked to complain. A month later someone from Halifax called to apologise. I cancelled the policy that day. It is a waste of time and money insuring with Halifax, they are useless.

Guess what 64% YES SIXTY FOUR. RIP OFF MERCHANTS. When I questioned why basically as we pay monthly PAY UP until end of policy march 2021 or Accept increase. In other words your stuffed sucker. Lloyds Car Insurance plus about another ten quotes for car insurance are all CHEAPER than the original pricee being paid for the Sportage.
