Great as long as you don't need to claim.

Covid claim from April still waiting decision, you cannot amend, update a claim, call or email them. They can call you at any time and you better have your details at hand regardless of what your doing otherwise its another 28 days, if your driving...

Covid claim from April still waiting decision, you cannot amend, update a claim, call or email them. They can call you at any time and you better have your details at hand regardless of what your doing otherwise its another 28 days, if your driving or at work then tuff. You can cancel your claim at any time! They ask for details they already have time after time, nobody qualified to make a decision, always referred. Don't complain to Nationwide its not there problem, who chose them. My complaint to UK insurance was upheld but they lost my details so had to start claim again, not once but lost 3 times and each time you must start your claim again, I cannot stress how unprofessional this outfit is, its beyond belief. 4 months and still waiting.

My claim has been going on for over 3 months... no closer than when I started. Complained to nationwide and they sent my complaint to UK insurance.... complete circle of nitwits

They were due to travel 2 days after lockdown. Case being reviewed for over 3 months, all information supplied honestly, all discount for long stay shown - part offer Finally given, then 3 days later withdrawn.

I have been a customer for over 20 years and I never missed a payment, However I receive a letter saying I have missed a payment for £ 5.50 and have incurred a late charge . I ring them and they then refund the late charge , and while I am on the phone, I actually pay £ 674.00 that isn't even due for another 10 days. They then notify Experian that I have defaulted and missed a payment ( WAIT FOR IT ),,, for £ 674.00 !! which is now on my credit file. How much is that all back to front !! I have explained to Experian and they fully understand that Nationwide have made an error , but having spoken to Nationwide on 3 occasions now, they are not prepared are able to even speak to Experian and explain what happened. Ironically the
£ 5.50 bill was payed also on time, I will be cancelling the card and all other products I have with them. As far as my credit file is concerned , it will just sit there for no fault of my own , and is due to the Nationwide's incompetence and poor customer support. NOT HAPPY

Very disappointing level of service from Nationwide in regards to my travel insurance claim. Began claim April 2020 and three months on still no further forward.

Their online system to upload documentation is useless, therefore sent my claim documents by recorded delivery. Now Nationwide claim they have not received documents, even though they have been confirmed as delivered and signed for. How convenient ! The Claim process seems to be intentionally designed o be convoluted and difficult - in order that some claimants will eventually give up. Recent reviews confirm Nationwide are struggling to provide any reasonable level of service in this area. I’d recommend cancelling a flex plus current account, the monthly cost is no longer good value as the insurance cover is essentially worthless.

I’ve been with Nationwide building society since my child hood. When it use to be called Anglia building society. Nationwide in 1999 sold me a life insurance policy with my mortgage serious illness cover stating informing me it covers cancer, heart attacks etc. Then in 2012 they asked me to upgrade it again, also it covers the same as I was informed, In September 2018 I suffered a heart attack 3 times I was fitted a stent. Also losing my career that I enjoyed for 15 years cause of my heart attack. I went to make the claim and the life insurance company Refused to pay the cover out. When I asked for a full investigation and re asses the claim. The insurance company had said they only cover by pass surgery as they do not cover the stent fitting. So they told me I was mis sold the policy by nationwide. Then out of the blue nationwide phone me to tell me it was my fault and also there advisors do not have enough time to explain the policy so that’s why they make you sign for the policy there and then. Well you told me heart attacks are covered infact they won’t! And now 21 years later you ring me! just to tell me it was my fault! For taking the policy and am still covered! Not a bit of sympathy for selling me a policy that was no good to me or my family. And have no sympathy how I pay you the mortgage right now. I do not need you’re advice my children family have been with you for a long time. If that’s how you do business and look after you’re customers I’ll take my family and money some where else then.

I reported fraudulent activity in Jan 2020 where NBS were unable to retract funds from the third party. Upon negotiating with the third party to recoup funds I notified NBS of the defrauded funds crediting my account in the third week of March a week prior to the transaction so they are aware of the situation. A week later my account was frozen and the funds were taken out by NBS without any warning or consultation. I was alarmed as I kept NBS in the loop as to circumstances of the fraud and negotiations to have the funds returned.

2 months later they then decided to freeze my wife's and parents Nationwide accounts, again without warning or a phone call and have spent endless hours trying to get to the bottom of their negligence and unprofessional staff in their Fraud Support team. My nightmare lives on as I trying to get answers only to be asked to email the Account Review Team who have not responded in over 3 weeks.

To request information they have asked me to complete a SAR which they’re meant to legally respond within 28 days and have failed to do so and then asked to bank elsewhere whilst they hold my funds.

Please stay well clear from Nationwide and do not waste your time and effort with a reckless bank who have zero consideration for the well being of their customers in such horrific times. Shame on NBS!!

Settlement not reached by finding a contractor quote - just a scope of works and a lump sum which did not cover cost of repair. Didn’t tell me that I would have to find my own contractor for repair as claim under £1000. Couldn’t find this information in policy booklet.

I quote the reply I received “Page 17 of the Policy Booklet under Indirect Losses explains, we won’t cover any cost you would normally have to make during your trip. So when you pay for the holiday your flight home is not classed as an additional cost or a financial loss. Still makes no sense to me but just wanted everyone to be aware of this.

When trying to make a claim you have to jump through multiple hoops and fill lout a lot of paper work. After 2 hrs of being on hold to even begin a claim and 5 weeks for the claim to be reviewed they cut the cost of the claim down to 1/3, then took £50 excess. this left a pitiful amount and with the work put into getting the claim it would of been easier and more lucrative to cancel the policy.

I'm in total agreement with some recent reviewers here. My wife's diagnosis of Myeloma after we had booked a holiday meant we had to cancel the holiday and claim. It first took a ridiculous amount of time to convince the company (UK Insurance) that we were 'eligible'. Then, having submitted all the relevant documents in a very clumsy uploading system we heard nothing for two months. I was then forced to call them during the Covid 19 crisis and waited over an hour before the phone was picked up, to be told that they were missing a document for the claim. The travel company had sent a cancellation invoice (which we had uploaded with our claim) indicating quite clearly the amount of deposit we had paid, but I was obliged to call them again, and after 4 exchanges of emails Nationwide finally submitted our claim. We've now switched accounts to Flexdirect, because Flexplus is all but worthless on its current abysmal rate of interest. The generous interest when we first opened the account paid for about half the monthly charge. Not now.
